- Third International Meeting of the
ICTs-and-Society Network: “Perspectives and Challenges” (29 June – 2
July 2010; Barcelona, Spain)
"This meeting is as open to everyone engaged in ICTs-and-Society
research, Internet research, Information Society research and related
fields – whether you are a senior researcher or a PhD candidate – as the
network is open itself. Topics will thus revolve around:
. the impact of ICTs and society research on society,
. our basic concepts and our background theory,
. and our use of methodologies.
You are encouraged to suggest panels or round tables or other formats
around the issues at stake. As usual, a session will last 90 minutes.
Deadline for submissions extended until 6th May, 2010!

- DIY (Do-It-Yourself) Citizenship: Critical Making and Social Media
(Nov 12-14, 2010; Toronto, Canada)
"This interactive conference seeks to extend conversations about new
modes of engaged DIY citizenship and politics evidenced by the
exponential increase of DIY media, “user-generators”, “prosumers,”
“hacktivists,” tactical media interventionists, and other ‘maker’
identities. Scholars, activists, artists, designers, programmers and
others interested in the social and participatory dimensions of
digitally-mediated practices, are invited to engage in dialogue across
disciplinary and professional divides.
Please submit a 250-word proposal or description of work/presentation
and a one-page artist or scholarly CV by May 20."

- Call for Proposals for the Establishment of 3-year framework
partnership agreements with EU-level NGO networks in the areas of social
inclusion, non-discrimination, gender equality, the integration of
persons with disabilities and the representation of the Roma. The
Commission has published a Call for Proposals under PROGRESS, the EU’s
employment and social solidarity programme, with a view to selecting –
on the basis of a triennial strategic plan – EU-level NGO networks to
work with the Commission and receive Union support on a stable and
regular basis for the period 2011-2013. The Union support is not
intended for specific projects, but to cover the costs inherent in the
functioning of a European NGO network over a period that is equivalent
to its accounting period.
